Our first Tassie Challenge was a success judging by the positive feedback we received, sounds like everyone enjoyed themselves and learnt a bit more.
It started at 9am Saturday morning with a plotting exercise which most teams scored 90% or better. Fagarwi were first out of the blocks and even had time to slip into Mole Creek and then up to the caves before anyone else had left. Then it was time to head up into the Gog state forest to find waypoints, most teams opted to stop in at the closest waypoint to do SS1, the blindfold challenge (thanks to Action for running this event). Times ranged from 3 minutes 50 up to 8 minutes.
All teams had to be back by 4pm with stiff penalties for being late, they started rolling in at 3.55pm and most had been busier than a one armed Palestinian bricklayer in the gaza strip trying to locate all the waypoints. 4.10pm still no Loose Nuts, 4.14 they rolled in with a hilux still up the bush, broken steering (not bad really after 450 000 kms) -70 points.
Before we had a BBQ Dinner the travel ramp was set up for a play with Ray in his 80 series cleaning up followed closely by Burnsy.
Bakes & Berry easily won the mini winch challenge we had before dinner. The night stage consisted of 6 waypoints on some challenging terrain to locate with answers to record at each one, Berry & Bakes were first back with all other teams coming in right on the 2 hour limit. All teams did really well at the night stage.
Final Placings;
1st Streets Ahead
2nd Loose Nuts
3rd Fagarwi
4th D-Lux
5th Athol
6th The Chuckleheads
7th Looney Tunes
8th Cos we can
